Heat treatment process?

I have tried napp'n my own points but usually end up with a stacked up POS that barely resembles an arrowhead. I am about as green as they come to flint napp'n and would like to know how to heat treat my own chert for a possibly easier time.

Thanks for the tips gentlemen. I think it will come with some more practice. I have made a few OK pieces but want to master the thinning process! Very difficult.

Luke, try looking here for the information you need:
PaleoPlanet - Message Board Yuku go to the forums area & see what you can find.
There are a lot of knappers in there, I`m 1 of those crazy people by the way.
Lots of info on all things paleo, knapping, video links, text/photo tutorials, & more that I`m forgetting at the moment.
Welcome to the forum & enjoy your new addiction, it only hurts when you think too hard about why you broke that sweeeeet point you had going by trying to remove that 1 last freakin hinge & pushed a little too hard, just before it went SNAP. OK, it hurts a little when you forget to use a decent pad & push a flake under the skin, but after a while you learn how to remove those without losing too much skin or blood along the way... lol
