Blade/Core Technology Demonstrated
Check out this guy's technique for driving blades off a core. He has it down! Definitely worth watching.

blade cores
Shannon, that was very informative. Blade cores are one of my favorite artifacts to find. I have a nice agate (?) one from Manix Lake, in the Mojave Desert and a recently found obsidian core from Nevada. They are hundreds of miles apart, but the similarities are remarkable. How did Early Man come up with the same technologies with that much distance between sites? It is a marvel to me and I spend a lot of time thinking about it. Enjoy these two pictures of one of the huge advancements in stone technology, at least in my opinion.

Manoman, post some pics of the cores if you could..I'd like to check them out. I've been watching a few more of these vids as they really give me insight about what I'm looking at in the scatter piles.
Thanks for posting that!! |
