Colorful arrowheads and tools from Mongolia and Central Asia
I love collecting artifacts and odd technologies from isolated places, and I recently got lucky and added a collection of more than 500 arrowheads, 90 cores, some misc. tools, and a couple thousand bladelets from Western Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Western China, & Kazakhstan. I had around 100 pieces from there previously.
This is a frame I put together with some of my favorite points. ![]() ![]() ![]() A frame with 200 and some odd agate triangles. ![]() A better view of some of the agate triangles, the compression in the previous picture doesn't do them justice. ![]() ![]()

Some of my favorite arrowheads.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A fascinating type are the quad tipped points. The tips are burinated four times to create to create a very strong and sharp four sided tip. ![]() ![]()

These guys weren't bad at flaking either,
![]() ![]() ![]() They apparently liked core blades as much as I do. ![]() ![]() ![]() And the conditions actually preserve hafted tools. ![]()

I also enjoy the little cores that they made. Most of the cores are pretty strait forward, but they also made this biface/core combos.
Normal core side ![]() Biface Side ![]() Side A ![]() Side B ![]() The other cores are half bad either. ![]() I did find reference to this type of core being used in Siberia (relatively speaking not too far from where these pieces were found.) The cores are surprisingly early. I don't think the majority of the points are that old, and the hafted pieces are certainly not that old. ![]()

Thanks for posting all the stuff from other countries.I've seen more chipped flint from around the world in your last few posts than I've seen in my whole life. What time period are those from? What was the function of the hafted tools?
