Authentic Ishi Points - Up For Sale

Happended across Jeb Taylor's webpage and noticed he is offering for sale three super rare, authentic Ishi made points. They are from the Charles Shewey collection. If memory serves me, I believe a large part of the Charles Shewey collection went to Museum of Native American Artifacts in Bentonville, AR - owned by David Bogle.

Ishi Points offered by Jeb Taylor

What a great pieces of history that tie back to Ishi - Last of the Wild Indians. These Ishi points belong in a museum to be seen and to tell Ishi's Story - what a story it is.

You are right they should be in a museum for all to see. However I am selfish enough that if I had the money I would put them in my case. They surely are amazing artifacts with an amazing history.

WOW!!!!!!

If i win the Lotto tonight or tomorrow Night I'm buying at least one of those!!!!

Is there documentation that they were in fact made by Ishi???? as i've read about them, they should have serious provenance regarding Ishi having made them..

Those are just wonderful...

Wow, I have just wanted one of Jeb's books, and can't afford that, let alone the artifacts he has for sale. The Ishi story is really something, hard to imagine connecting with someone who is part of prehistory. Anybody ever see the movie, "Last of the Dogmen"?

I'll go out on a limb here and say that in the artifact collecting community, Jeb Taylor would be up there as far as an authority on Ishi made relics. If a buyer wanted a second opinion, they could contact the Museum of Native American Artifacts in Bentonville, AR. I understand the museum has under curation another (4th) Ishi made Point. Matt Rowe, the museum's curator should be able to compare points and make a call on weather or not the same person (Ishi) knapped Jeb Taylor's points. Jeb provides a detailed description on how these points came into his possession - also indicates signed letters from several people who were involved.

Those would be awesome to have. There was a movie made years ago about Ishi, but I can't think of the name of it.

Steve - In 1978 there was a movie called, "Ishi:The Last of His Tribe." The movie is actually on Youtube - go figure.

The following are links to free pdf books and papers related to the subject of Ishi:

Web Archive
The medical history of Ishi
Yahi archery

eScholarship
Hunting With Ishi - The Last Yana Indian
Ishi: America's Last Stoneage Indian
Ishi the Last Yahi: A Documentary History

Google Books
Flint working by Ishi
California's Ishi Wilderness

There are many more books out there, but not free online. My two personal favorites are:

Ishi: In Two Worlds
Ishi: Last of His Tribe

Here is a look at Ishi's Flint Knapping Kit
