An Excellent Hunt 1-11-12
Went out for my first hunt of the new year this past Wednesday. It took a while but I finally broke the ice by finding about half of a small white birdie. About an hour later I got a black birdie blunt. Finds started to come quickly then and over the next hour I found a red birdie, a tan birdie, a nice preform of basalt material. After this, I decided to head back to the truck. On the way I made a small detour across an area I've not hunted and found a very nice half that is about 2" long and a whatsit. The whatsit is a piece of flint exactly 11/4"long x1/2" wide. Both edges show extremely fine flaking but when checking with my magnifying glass I can see no evidence of pressure marks on the back side leading me to believe this could be a complete flute taken off either a clovis or folsom point. Or, it could just be my imagination running away with me and it's just an awesomely worked flake knife. Your comments on this piece would be greatly appreciated. Also, I posted a video on my youtube channel. Hey look, I just passed 100 posts too.
