Recent Madison County Finds (Texas)

Well this camp(s) keep on producing and from the looks of it will keep producing for years to come. This is a very interesting place with older style points n material higher up on the hillside and a big woodland camps lower along the hill closer to the dry creek beds. I have been pot holing here and there up high trying to locate a good spot to find some older stuff and found the base to this about a week and half ago.

Of course I dug like a mad man after I found this but came up empty handed besides a few nice flakes! I know somewhere on this hillside their could be a few whole ones laying around!

I also dug down low for about 30 minutes and pulled out a woodland type pre-form/knife and a broke piece.

The next day I took my son up to hunt a stand I have right below the old camps where we dig for youth weekend and he had a little luck.

This past weekend I took my son and a friend up his to dig for some artifacts. I decided to hit an area that has produced for us in the past.

Well we ended up having a pretty decent time for an hour and half worth of screening on little screen table I have.

Madison County is about 20 minutes north of Huntsville in the Post Oak Savannah region. With that said, the woodland camp pretty much spits out east Texas type points such as perdiz, gary's, catahoula's, broke pottery, different style petrified wood points etc. Every now and then something unexpected with pop up like this Gahagan blade. Definitely keeps our interest up. We are finding loads of broke pottery and I sure would like to find a whole pot!!

Nice finds. That Perdiz would have been killer! Nice buck as well! Thanks for the look.
