Just one - but cool!

Just found one thing today, but this is pretty cool.
It's made out of quartzite, and at first I thought some type of hoe, but I'm not so sure. No polish on it, but it's seen some heavy use it appears, and looks re-sharpened as well. This material wouldn't hold up too well tilling this rocky soil, and it wouldn't do too good chopping wood either.
It might make a good skull-splitter or animal skinner, what do ya think?

It's got a taper to it's base, like it might fit in a handle like a celt like in the bottom pic, but it's just a guess.

I found something similar to it last year, but it's a lot thinner and has no sign of use.

What a cool whopper of an artifact!

Some kind of chopping activity??,,,if you put the wide part in your palm and let the narrow part protrude through the middle of your four fingers,,, it could work like brass knuckles and put a knot on an enemys skull, or impact fracture a tooth lol

It kinda resembles a big biface that was broken in manufacture and then salvaged maybe,,,hell, I dunno, Cool as heck though!

That's one hell of a find!
Looks like it might have been a tomahawk head.

Very nice find Scotto. I agree with you, looks like a tapered fitting like a celt. Would be interesting to find out if there are any traces if biological material on the bit.

Native immitation of the Spanish Halberd? .

Cool find, looks like a multi purpose tool to me. Weapon, cleaver, chopper. I have a modern Alaskan ullu that I use in the kitchen all the time that is shaped just like that.
