Trade Point recent find!!!

Hey guys here's a picture of a trade point I found a whle back (early summer). Here's where the recent find part of this story comes about... I was sitting at home last night putting together a couple of small frames and deciding what points I was going to put in them and decided one of them was going to be one of my two trade points. It still had all the clay baked inside of it from the site that it was found and I didnt want all that clay to break off inside my frames especially sinse my background color of my frames is black velvet so I started to clean it all out and guess what I found!!! It was a piece of the shaft preserved inside!!!

So I was kinda thinkin I would like to pull it out of there so I could display it alongside the trade point in my frame. Would any of you recomend me do that or leave it as it is???

Im no expert but I would recommend leaving it in. You might do more damage by trying to pull it then its worth. You know its there, thats all that matters.

I would also leave it intact. Removing it would be like finding a whole arrowhead and then breaking it and you would certainly end up with a pile of debris trying to get it removed. I would even think about finding a way to preserve it so that it doesn't deteriorate.

I agree and would leave it...The wood is part of the artifact, and very rare in its own rite.Sweet find for sure.

Thanks for the opinions and have decided to leave it intact as is. Special thanks to mojave for your opinion of the piece. I have never seen or heard of them and decided to do some homework. Very interesting the tinkle cone is, however im still convinced it is a point do to the following facts. (round not flattened like most of the examples I looked at nor did it have an opening at the top, never found any beads in or around the site, and the wood inside leans me toward point) Whatever it is I love it and thanks for the insight of the tinkle cone!!!

Cool, and unique find! Thanks for sharing. I've never hunted the red even though I'm fairly close to it. I've always wanted to though. My brother in law owns 2,000 acres along it, but I've never even hunted that.

You definately should if only for the diversity of artifacts you can find!
