new member showing off the meager collection

Hello all. I have visited this site quite often to get a look at all of the beautifal artifacts. Decided it's time to join up and share some finds with everyone. These were all found in central Illinois (Cass and Christian Counties), most were found near the Illinois River.
I metal detect a lot and walk upon some artifacts in the plowed fields. One of my favorite metal detecting spots is a long gone farm site with a big pond behind it. A few years ago when a prolonged drought hit the area, the pond had dried up exposing the original creek channel. While taking a break from detecting i walked around the dried up pond hoping to find old bottles (another hobby) and noticed a rock with a concave surface right by the creek channel...it dawned on me that it was a grinding stone. After washing the mud off I noticed that it is also a nutting stone. It measures roughly 6 1/2" x 4" and fits in my hand very comfortably.
I have some other items that i m not sure about and will post them on the "What In The World?" forum.
The pictures aren't the best, sorry.
thanks for looking!!!

Welcome aboard!!!

You have a sweet Collection there, it doesn't matter about Quantity, but of Quality and I'd say you are doing very well indeed.
I like that Metate.. been hoping to find one of those locally, but alas no joy so far...

Welcome to the Best Board out there...
