1000-th Post, so will try to make it interesting.

A fairly productive hunt for me last Spring.
This is another one of my delayed 2011 same day/site hunt finds posts, occurring in late April of last year.
Both heavy snow melt and heavy Spring rains made it all possible.
Will post here in the order things were found.

Up first was a slightly tip damaged, but still quite nice dark colored and speckled agate-like material point.
A certain 'framer' for me, considering the lithic type.

This next find is one of the nicest side scraper/knife type combo tools I have found in quite some time.

Next I decided to go check out a rather rocky area of largish stones that had been dug hard by the chisel plow.
Below is a look at that rocky zone.
My next find is marked here just past this stone zone next to my standing ski pole, and then shown in the following pic.

This is my second axe find for 2011 as seen at the tip of my ski pole chipper-flipper.
The double-grooved one in my last thread post several weeks ago being the first.
This next shot below is looking past the same stone and boulder zone from the opposite direction.

Rats, out of space for now...TO BE CONTINUED, with an immediate follow-up.

Awesome finds Mike and a great post for #1000. I have often thought those random rocks piles were stock kept for making Stone Tools. I have a couple of fields that have those same type of scattered rock piles right out in the middle of the field. You would think if the farmer was clearing them from the field he would take them to the edge, not pile them up in the middle.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

1000-th POST CONTINUATION...

A finely tipped point hiding in amongst the previous season's crop residual trash, was my next discovery on this hunt.

I only had a small area of usual insignificance left to hunt at this point.
But the way the hunt was going, what the heck, just as well give it a quick check.
Well, scored another dandy to end the day, just not sure what to call it.

Pretty sure I wouldn't call the above point fluted. More like heavily thinned.
Especially as is not basally ground.
I think the McKean complex has a style associated with it that looks like this.
I have found some Hanna & Duncan looking points on this site and around this lake, which are also McKean related, but shouldered types.
Ifso, then Jeb Taylor refers to these as McKean Lanceolates. Middle Archaic time frame.

The group shot for this hunt all cleaned up.
The far left crude triangle was a bit of a bonus find somewhere along the way.

Until next time, hope you all enjoyed.

Steve - I'm quite certain that these rocks are here because Mother Nature placed them there. Some of these would be well into the hundreds of pounds - almost boulder class actually. They occur naturally along lake shores here. This is actually part of a huge area of rocks. The farmer widened out just enuff to catch part of the edge of the heaviest portion of the non-farmed portion of the stone zone.

You sure had a productive spring last year, two axes, one being a doubled groove, several nice points to add from your file of delays from 2011. Sure like that first translucent one, glad your familiar with your points, that one sure looked Clovis from here!!! Was that a large lake there where your looking?? Can't wait to see the next round of delays!!!!!
Sure not having much of a winter here, hope the spring thaw treats you nice!!!
