1/31 Triangles and Beads

Got out for an hour and a half or so on the Mississippian spot down the road. I walked the cornfield first and it was tough hunting with everything grown up from last year but I managed to find a couple good triangles in the field. Then I went over to the adjacent construction site and spent the rest of my time looking through piles of topsoil dirt that had been moved around recently. I found two more broken serrated tri's and three beads. I dug about a 2' x 5" deep spot under that surface bead and came up with the other two.

Kind of had to spill the beans to a guy who walked up on me. " Watchya looking fer " I almost said worms for fishing but I saw he was looking at my triangles already. Busted. I'll probably see him and and his whole family next trip. Oh well.

Nice triangles, and beads. I would've told that feller I found the points somewhere else, and wasn't finding squat at this spot!

I was unprepared to give a backup story, he crept up on me ninja style before I even noticed he was there. I think I didn't hear him coming because of the wind. It's not that big of a secret anymore though he seemed really interested. Thanks Wichita and Justonemore, HH.

Looks like a worthwhile effort. Nice combo of finds. Both varieties are nicely done.

I usually have some P-R's and pet wood in my pocket to answer any inquisitor visitors with - just in case. P-R's meaning Pretty Rocks that are shining/sparkling/colorful stones of some sort. It has come in handy more than once. Gotta tell em like you are serious though .

Thanks Indy, me too, there's just something about the triangles, one of my favorite types.

Love that last group shot. Some of those beads are so tiny, no way I'd spot them. Super finds Ryan.

Good day for you Ghost!!! Awesome to see a different part of the country coming up with very similar results, minus the intrusion!! Looks like a couple of different kinds of beads you found. Are both kinds made from shell?
