Awesome Celt! Was that a river find? I have a spot along the river that has a lot of big camp rocks washing out and i check each one hoping it will be a Celt or axe. Very cool finds and thanks for the look.

Thanks for taking a look. The celt wasn't right on the river bank, but on a bluff about 50 yards back and 25 feet above the river. Fire cracked rock, pottery, and clam shell washing out of the bank at the crest of the bluff were the clues.
It sounds like you have found a spot that should produce eventually.

Thanks Panola. I don't find an awful lot of hardstone here either. In 30 years all I have found is a discoidal, roller pestle and a very crude flaked celt. My granddad has a nice grooved axe but that is about it from our farm. Thanks again for taking a look.

Sweet finds Paul ! The spot you described puts me in mind exactly of one of three we've been diggin for a couple of years. Never found any catfish spines though in the pits.....but it makes sense.
