Team Hartman 2-3-12

It was almost 60 degrees today and sunny, so after work we headed to the farm for some hunting before it got dark. We had no babysitter, so Dylan(our 3 year old) tagged along with Hannah, Julie and me. He had a blast walking around the farm and found about 100 "arrowheads". I found a couple of broken tips pretty quick, and what appears to be a heavily damaged celt. Hannah found a tip of one that looks like it was pretty awesome when it was whole. Hannah also found a triangle with a tip broken off. It started to get dark, so I said we should get going soon. Julie said we're not leaving until I find something. I was ready to go grab the flashlight and sleeping bags when she found a small but sweet looking arrowhead. I have never seen a small one made like this. It was pretty cool. On the way back to the car, I saw the tip of a nice sized complete triangle. All in all not bad for 90 minutes. Thanks for looking.

I love days out with the family. It makes even crappie finds even that much more special. I carry my 3 year old all the time. He has more fun just playing in the mud. But he has about learned what flint is. It won't be long before he is finding points on his hole. I can't wait for that day. Let him get going and we will double the finds. But it looks like you had a great family day in the field. Good job, and nice finds.

Chris

Dylan certainly outdid all of us. Every other minute he said "I found an arrowhead". Maybe someday it will actually be one. It was definitely a great family day. He did enjoy the mud, but preferred finding rocks. I don't think he's ready to walk a field with a crop planted, but maybe we can get out a little more with him.

You should consider keepin all those arrow heads that Dylan finds and in about 5 years show em to him and you can both have a good laugh. Whatever you do dont tell him that they aint arrow heads, let him figure it out for himself. I sure git a kick out of watchin kids in the outdoors.
