Our story....We have been hunting for artifacts since June 2011. We have purchased many books, talked to many people and most of all spent quite a bit of time staring at the ground. We are definitely hooked and enjoy everything about. Finding relics and realizing the history behind them is why we do this. Spending the time outdoors is where we are most happy. That being said, we went this last weekend in southern MO to our favorite spots. We hit it right as the heavy rains allowed us these pieces. We found the Scott's Bluff and Adena within about 5 minutes of each other on the first gravel bar we looked. We found the Dalton off of the same gravel bar about 5 minutes later. it was submerged in about 8" of water. This is not our "typical" day, but we would take days like these everytime! The 2nd day we found many broken points/pieces, but nothing whole. We had all but given up when I walked a few feet up a small (1-2' wide) stream and found a nice broken tip. This gave us a little extra boost to continue looking for a little longer. We walked the same creek in the other direction for not more than 5 minutes when I bent down to pick up another tip. At that moment my wife noticed a point underwater, sticking out of the mud. She pulled it out of the mud and we could not believe what we had found! Minus the broken ear it is a really nice dovetail. Edges and detail are realy nice and it had obviously not been in the water long. There are days when we find no points, but we always find something and we always enjoy our time looking. Maybe we have been lucky or have had "beginners" luck. We tend to think that we do our homework and spend alot of time looking. We have found many points and most are not of this quality....but we like them all!
