I know I said these were "Hoes" and for all intents and purposes they probably are, but some of those we find on the earlier sites may have been nothing more than a digging tool and may not have been used for agriculture. I don't know if the Archaic people ever actually farmed since they were semi nomadic, but I'm sure once the Woodland people started building permanent villages that agriculture was introduced. My guess is they grew maize and possibly some other types of fruits or veggies.
So actually I guess the answer to your original question should be yes, it may very well be an Archaic tool.
