Hello Arrowheadologists,

First off, thank you for you support and individual donations to Arrowheadology.

I'm excited to share the news of our upcoming enhancements to the site. This year Arrowheadology turned 2 years old! We are fortunate to have a very solid base of extremely knowledgeable members ranging from completely new collectors (newbs) to notable hobbyists to professional archeologists.

Over the past two years we've heard from you and others the suggestions that would help take Arrowheadolgy to the next level. We've listened to the many requests for additions and enhancements and have taken notes. It's now time to invest and implement these ideas that will enable information to be more easily posted, shared, and highlighted throughout the site.

We have a great 'culture' here and we do not plan to change that. The modifications we are talking about are strictly additions to the features and functionality of the site.

What can we look forward to? Well, the list is long but a few of the heavy hitters that I'm most excited about is an upgrade to the forum software.

Why is this a big deal? Well, we (mainly Big Ed) have done a great job in weaving in the various disparate elements of the site; the front page blogs, the galleries, classifieds and archives with the forum software. It works but it will work/flow better in the next iteration.

So, you can expect:
-Seamless video integration (you won't have to be a programmer to post videos in the forums)
-A solid reputation ranking system
-Every member will have their own 'space' (create your own personal online gallery, museum, profile, page, and more!)
-Improved image manipulation
-A live chat system
-Key content posted in the Galleries, Forums, and other pages will be pulled through and highlighted on the main page giving it a 'dashbord' look of what's new on Arrowheadology.
-Better server, increased security and greater expansion capability.
-And much, much more. These are just a few of the ones I'm most excited about.

How are we going to do all of this? Arrowheadology is hosting its first ever 'fund drive' to garner funds strictly on a voluntary basis from the membership. Donations received will go toward the enhancements of Arrowheadology referenced above.

Why are we doing a fundraiser? We take this very seriously and have given this much thought. As the site continues to grow and in order to scale/grow Arrowheadology additional investments beyond our current personal investments of cash and time are needed.

We feel banner advertising and marketing other sites/products takes away from the Arroweadology experience. We have turned away most advertising (only accepting occasional event ads) and we don't charge for anything on the site for this very reason.

We considered 'premium memberships' but not really as we didn't want to segregate membership.

Arrowheadology branded merchandise is a great idea and is planned for the next phase once the site's infrastructure has been upgraded. While selling t-shirts, caps, stickers and other gear is on our list, initial start-up requires an initial cash investment and it would take some time before enough merchandise could be sold to cover the initial investment and raise enough capital for the upgrades.
