Willing to Help???? ~PLEASE READ~

I have been thinking about this for a Number of Years...

the HISTORY CHANNEL Dedicates it's Programming during February to National Black History Month by showcasing numerous Informative, educational and entertaining Programs showing the Contributions African Americans have made to this Country. I am Fine with that and find it enjoyable to watch a number of the programs.. Never can learn too much about History i always say.

What i noticed some Years ago was that The History Channel does not dedicate November's Programming to National Native American Month.. They might show a few Programs, but certainly not to the extent they do for Black history Month.. No Commercials informing the general public about the fact that it's Native American History Month.. Not anything..

I felt that the History Channel, being popular as it is has a responsibility to Treat November/Native American History Month with the same Focus and Programming that they do for February/Black History Month. So I have Emailed them a few times over the past 3 years.. I get responses, but they are just Kind Thank You Letters explaining that they will consider such a project..

I have decided that if I was to get an Online Petition for everyone to sign in support of such Programming for November, the Powers that be at the History Channel would put more effort into my desired Project.. Numerous Folks around the Country all asking for the Same Programming would certainly work better then just my Humble attempts...

So What i would like to Ask of Everyone Here.. "Would You be willing to Sign the Online Petition, forward the Link to Others you know and get them to sign it as well????"

I know we cannot get them to start the Native American History Mont Focus this year, but if I allow the petition to be opened on thru March of next year.. i feel the Petition would have enough Signatures to basically "Force" the History Channel to, at the Very Least, focus on the Issue with more then a Casual effort....

I have not set up the Petition yet.. i have a Site and have scribbled down some Basic Ideas on how to Properly Word the Petition.. I figured besides getting Folks "Yea or Nea" on Signing the Petition, i could also get any helpful ideas about the wording of the Petition...

I am very serious about this... We , as the Family we all are on this Board, have a great deal of Knowledge about Native American Culture and history.. but the General Public probably has a great deal less.. This focus on behalf of the History Channel could enlighten & educate the Public better about the many and varied contributions, History & prehistory of the "First Inhabitants"....

So Would you be Willing to sign the Petition and help get it out to Others if i set it up online????

Ken Burns would do a Super Series about the Indians...

But my actual idea was to get the History Channel to promote Native American history Month by running a high Number of Programs that showcase the History, Pre History and contributions... Heck i recall some real good Programs from the late 80's ~ Early 90's that I'd be happy to see again.... I am certain there are specials or programs in the works about Native Americans...

I'll get that on-line Petition up soon and will post the Link here ASAP...

I'd be willing to get behind that because imo native americans deserve all the respect they can possibly get. The problem with the " History " channel is it's all about ratings. That's why they've resorted to ufo's and conspiracies as their bread and butter, kind of unfortunate imo. I still think it's worthwhile and would sign a petition.
