Well awesome. It was in a big piece of jaw bone about a foot deep in a cave and there were some flint flakes in it.

Definitely a Bears Tooth. Shame it wasn't drilled for suspension. Still a killer find.

Here's a few I've found on Ft Ancient sites, some drilled and some not. Both of the big ones in the first picture are very highly polished but were never drilled. May have been pouch items and kept as tokens of the kill.

So I should assume like black bear? I've found alot of big bone. Not alot of artifacts. But this is a cool find. I'm happy. Hopefully Steve I'll find a drilled one. Those you have are awesome. I think I'll go back and get the jaw bone I pulled it out of.

I would say that it is a black bear, did you look the jaw bone over real good for evidence of drilling or grooving? I would go back and get it myself. Very cool find!

Very cool find!!! No doubt it has to be a bear tooth..Found one in the Great Basin ( well the wife did) This year.

Never found a drilled tooth and have at least a half dozen Canine sea lion teeth ect. Steve has somehow cornered the market on that I think your on to a good place.

You know I started digging about 12 feet in the cave from the drip line. I've dug about a 5 by 5. Found 2 bird points really thin. And 2 brokes and a rough 3 inch point. I'd dig up front but there's huge slabs down that cover the whole front. I'm working my way back to a huge room and there's lots of little unknown spaces all over. I go alone so I'm gonna have to be careful. But I'll get back to the rooms.
