Spear point or Knife ?
Spear point or Knife ? I Found it at my Artifact hunting site in Wilkes County N.C. Looks to be made out of local rhyolite It has some damage to the tip and the sides and one shoulder is broken off

Can we see the other side, I can't even tell for sure that it's been flaked. I don't think it would work too well as a spear IMO, looks like it would just tick off what ever you were trying to stick. Knife.... maybe.

Im not real familiar with that type material but you have to consider that somebody would have to haft that to a stick and throw it. Questions are.... Will it fly? Will it stick into your target? Will it even cut? It has some sort of purpose because you found it at a known site. Somebody picked it up with a use in mind.

Well I have to be honest, it looks like a natural stone to me.

Hard to tell from the picture, but the one side looks like it could have been worked. If it has, I'd say knife/preform. Welcome to the site fellow Carolinian!

Not an artifact. It doesn't show any signs of being altered. Probably a geofact.

I'd say geofact as well.

I have to agree with Wiseshanks, George, and Scotto. I don't see any evidence of it being altered by man. Even some of the roughest pieces I have seen out of the Carolinas will show some evidence of the flake patterns on them.
I say natural stone.
