I can't see the flaking good but it looks like it might be a Plainview or Midland worked into a scraper. How far is it ground up the sides?

It is ground about 3/8 of an inch. I will try to get pics of the flaking. Thanks for the reply.

Very interesting Piece.
If you can ,,,Try to get Pics. of both sides,The base,And edge work.As many pictures under some good lighting would be great.
Great Study Piece,,,,Look Very closely at the Grinding,,,A Midland will Have Fine edge work,,,But will be ground most of the way to the tip.
Thanks for posting and welcome aboard////c

I will try to get better pics.....the edge work is very fine and there only appears to be grinding at the very base. I also found what appears to be a bison skull (horn and part of the skull showing) eroding out of a creek bank in bell county and will try to post the pic in a bit.

After doing a little research and looking with a mignifying glass it appears that the full length of this peice is ground. I also had a question. On clovis points is the point shaped and the flute cut or is the flute shaped first. I guess the reason I ask is that I have found several peices (one today) that look very similar to what several people are calling paleo knives. A flute and one worked edge.

Thanks for your time and wisdom

Really can't tell much from the last pictures, but it looks plainviewish to me. Is the tip broke, or was it worked down to a scraper??? Cool piece. I'll let the others chime in on the last part, but it's my understanding that the flute was one of the last processes on a clovis point. It's not to unheard of to find one that is complete, but unfluted. There should be a knocking nipple on the base... Raymond

Raymond,

Thanks for the reply. The tip appears to be broke....and the flaking goes at an angle clear across the face of the peice on both sides.

Thanks

Pat

Some pictures of them would be very helpful
