Hard to tell Vince, my guess would be some sort of fossil. Pretty bizarre.

i know huh scotto , the more i look at it the more i think fossil, any place to send it? could you look at it and tell if i sent it to you?

It's so worn and polished, it's hard to tell if it's a part of a fossil or a nodule worn out of a softer matrix... I tend to lean toward a nodule, especially if it is hard and not easily scratched... Steve may be onto something, tho... It does kind'a look like melted caramel...
