Obsidian Elko ?

Surface find Great Basin I was trying to match this point up with some other elko types that I have and on the point I.D. web sites but unable to find a match. Is this point a Elko ? 1" 3/4 inches long and 1" across the barbs I'm playing with the camera again.

Nice piece of obsidian. I would lean towards Gatecliff on that one.

Great point. The flaking and apparent banding look fantastic. A translucency shot in the sunlight would do this one rightful justice.

I think if you would look deeper at the spot where you found this point you might find the jewelry box it was in. Holy crap!! Nice looking point!!

Thumbs up

Gatecliff is a good call..a good portion I've seen have a very strong Pinto tendency with a split stem..the serrations seem right for the cluster as well. I think the Gatecliff predates the Pinto cluster??But I'm not positive...Either way it's a wonderful point in outstanding condition...An sweet point to be sure and a fantastic find!!!

I'd like to see a better shot of the stem..It looks like it contracts correctly but I can't see if it's roundish..Could be Gympsum Cave too.
