What In The World Is An " Authentic Reproduction " ?
Sounds like an oxymoron imo. Anyway this guy is scary good at cranking out authentic reproduction axes. Check it out, published aug. 31, 2011

Couldn't agree with you more. They are beautiful pieces but reproductions none the less and hundreds of years from being authentic. Some could make the argument reproductions are art, so is a serious professional repro of a Whistlers Mother or a Mona Lisa, but the repro's would also be forgeries!

In this case, "Authentic" is code for "Arrogant".

An authentic reproduction is when a person walks naked out into the Earth (or what's left of it) and makes a point the same way it was made when points where originally made, kills a non-domestic species with it, makes some food and clothing with the kill, and then walks out to tell us about it. Or not.

Since Pete puts "authentic reproduction" in quotes, I think he realizes the potential irony in the wording.

I agree, Joshua... He was probably just trying for a chuckle... Even so, his casts are 'authentic reproductions'... Nice poke, Pete...

What I read in the two articles is that "authentic reproduction" Is meant to imply they are made with material, shaping and finish to look like authentic artifacts. And, the "Art" axes are exactly that, made of material for it's color, not normally used in ancient times, and finished to a high polish for the shaer art and appearance. Seems pretty simple.
