Tooth ID?

Found these teeth in a midden in Louisiana but have no idea what they are. Any ideas? Thanks.

The folks at the fossil forum would know. The big one looks like a horse to me, and the little one looks canid but I am no expert.

Thanks. I think you are right on both but i would still like to know what exactly the smaller tooth came from. My computer wont let me use the fossil forum site for some dumb reason.

Not sure of the exact species, but the smaller tooth is a carnassial, definitely from a carnivore. It looks old, very nice find.

It looks like a Wolf Molar to me. Here is a chart of Wolfs teeth and you can see one just like yours. I also included two pictures of a double drilled Wolf Molar I found a few years back.

Again, I'm no expert, but I do know that each one of those little folds, the width thereof, depth, points, etc. can mean the difference between a badger and a wolverine and a coyote and a wolf and a bob cat and etc. so I'd definitely ask those paleo types to get a good opinion. Teeth are tricky and I can see obvious differences between the ink drawing, the drilled tooth and the OP tooth. I guess you can't tell the difference between a bison latifrons or a modern bison or even a domestic beef cow based on teeth, yet all those folds and whatnot can be distinguishing characters in another set of examples or between species that look alike.
