The smooth side likes pretty smooth compared to the other sides. As if it had been used as a mano. The groove looks like an odd natural variant. The ends do look knocked around a bit. Seems like a good tool to crack some nuts using the ends and then the face to grind them down on a metate. I suppose the groove could have been pecked in but it is unlike any other grooved artifacts I've seen. For what those 2 cents are worth.

It looks like it may have been used as a mano. And the groove appears to just be a natural part of the rock.

Groove is natural. At most i'd say mano. The battered end could suggest a hammerstone.
