Unusual Hardstone Piece

This is kind of an odd piece I found earlier this year. It's made of native greenstone , has some peck marks from shaping and some overall polish. There is a depression along one side ( that didn't picture well ) that is highy ground and polished from usewear imo. Because of the heavy use evident on the one side I figure it was used as a platform or something but I'm just guessing. What do you think?

Yeah it's a head scratcher for sure. One of those weird pieces that just has to come home with you.

Nice rock! The marks on that side look to be from a secondary use, maybe only from one occasion. It's primary purpose would have to do with it's shape and finish. A Rubbing stone. Maybe a hide finishing tool.

That's a good call on hide finishing / softening tool I think. The bottom has more use polish than the top.

Maybe that's what this odd one is. It has a noticeably smoother bottom side as well.

Appreciate the opinions and feedback.

Love these oddball pieces. I have several larger stone items that that I have wondered their use. Need to put up some pics soon. I really like those pieces Ghost. They look to have had a use, but what the heck was it. I like the Hide Finishing theory. As a joke guess, maybe it is the pointer off a ancient sundial.
