What Type of Artifact

I found this rock a couple of days ago (6 inches). The smaller blade next to it is made of the same material. I found a cache of North blades once, and this rock reminds me of those preforms, only different material. But it could be a hoe or a celt? It has a bit on the end shown. I found it a couple inches under the ground. Because of its size, and flat shape it would take it a long time for it to soak into the ground. Plus the clay pan is only about 8 inches in this area.

I seen you had some snow in N/E Texas today. It has been a really wet year for us , but I know the farmers have been struggling in Texas. No snow yet here. I work outside alot, and that wet 40 degree weather chills me. But he never said it would be easy! Thanks for posting and Merry Christmas!!!!

I found one of those on the surface this summer. First saw some chips and managed to find a bird point. Sat there looking at the birdy and my son walks up and picks it up right at my feet! I may have stood back up and left it there. Guess I need to expand my target shape and material while in the field

Whatever it may be I like it. Classy tool and the smaller one has to go with it. With that shallow clay pan you should be able to find lots of good stuff.
Today like like a day in early spring. Had to take the sweater off. Frost each night but be around 70 during the day. high 20's for Sunday and Monday nights. burr Happy New Year
