Weird Great Basin point

Can't say I've ever found one like this before. It was flaked in a very clever way to achieve those teeth. It was found associated with several Pintos and a Wendover point. I'm guessing it's Mid to Early Archaic. Have any of you Great Basin collectors seen one like this before?

My first thought was Pinto on this. I have more than a few Pintos with small serrations but none with such large and pronounced ones. Unusually long and deep serrations that actually thinned the point out as well. Was this in a site or found lost on a hunt? If it was on a site I am surpised that they did not resharpen it for use again as they usualloy did down to nubs. Really a very unique and interesting archaic GB artifact.

I'm thinking Pinto too. Most Pintos are probably dart points, this one was probably a knife of some sort. I would guess it was a site because several points were found there, mostly Pintos.

I really like this one, as is certainly is a real eye catcher. Those are wicked looking serrations to the max! Were each of the serrations created by a single flake removal? Or was there some minor finish work done as well on the edges deep within the serrations themselves? Mean looking point design.

Thanks man, I like the weird and unusual stuff too. It looks like there was some retouch within the serrations. But it also looks like the ancient knapper was doing his best to make them without much retouch. Thanks for the help with inspiration to find that Clovis base. Some great reading material helped a lot.

That's about as close of a match as I have seen so far. That's a gnarly little buggar you have there!

Yeh I've seen a few Pintos with serrations. Lots of times the serrations are only on one side though.

Wicked little point. I like the diagonal flaking between the serrations.
