Quartz point
I found this point in a cut where pipe was being laid for a home in Anderson Creek, NC (Harnett Co.) back in 1973. It is made of quartz, milky in the center to clear on the edges. I have a book on projectile points, but still cannot identify my point. Hoping someone here can help.

If the base is intact probably a Morrow Mountain.

Thanks for your help Tdog. I'm new to the study of projectile points and tend to see a little of this type and that type from my book on points. It
seems much harder for me to narrow my points down to type. My past passion has been on fossil shark teeth and with gemstones - much easier to identify. |

I find mostly quartz and quartzite artifacts in my area and I've noticed that the Carolinas and Georgia have a lot of it too. Morrow Mountains to us are like Garys to Texans--they're a common find in each geographical area. On most MM's I've observed the stem is a little longer than on yours but then again, no two are identical. JMHO

I'd go with a Kirk Snapped Base or a Morrow Mountain. Would need to see better of the base. Love the translucent!

Thanks for your input Headhunter23. Here is a better pic of the base and some lamp light.

Looks like a Snap base. Although it could have been a Morrow Mountain or a Savannah River with the base reworked.

Broken stem or not, still looks like it's contracting as in typical MM's. Archaic piece nevertheless.

Yes, I love the fact that it is Archaic! I've labeled it as a Morrow Mountain point on my Flickr page, given the information you fellas have sent me. I've searched on the internet for these Morrow Mountains today and have found many with the shape my blade has. I want to say Thanks again for your help, Tdog and Headhunter23.
