Very odd material

This is shaped like a celt and is 6 inches long. Anybody seen any material like this?
If so what the heck is it?
It is also flatter on one side.
Thanks Mark

It looks like a piece of granite. Interesting chisel looking bit on the end.

It is a horrible pic but it has sparkly looking things in it sparkles in spots as you move it. The chisel? end has a break of 1/2". It is black where it is broke. I saw another of very similar material on Flintseekers gallery here on arrowheadology.

I go with a Fine Grained Granite, The excess Quartz could put in the Granite Pegmatite category but only to a geologist.

First thanks everyone so far. Second sorry about the bad pics. All I have is a scanner. It is great for my coins but not so easy with rocks. I need to work on that.

EDited to admit stupidity:LOL
After doing a simple google seach for granite axes and celts found several. DUH they call them Speckled Granite axes etc. Man do I feel Very Stupid!!!!! This one is not polished except possibly one the one edge. I thought it odd material because it is Quite sparkly in hand but I bet if polished it would lose a lot of the sparkle but not the speckles. LOL

It looks like Mica Schist to me. Google it and see for yourself.

I'm pretty sure it is mich schist....the natives really liked to use it around my area for metates and flat working surfaces. I guess because of the nice shine it has in the sun.
