This rock is something, but I don't know what!

Julie found a rock at our new farm. This is why we bring everything we find that might be something. At the farm, I told her it was nothing, but when I cleaned it up, it is obviously something. Problem is, I don't know what. This is Julie's first hard stone (is that the right term?) artifact. It has obvious polishing around the edges, and one edge has been rubbed flat. There looks to be some pitting, but I'm not sure. Any idea what this was used for? Does it have a name, or is it a generic piece? Any thoughts appreciated. Found in Southwest Ohio.

I can't tell if it has battering so looks like a plow-scarred rock. IMO, not an artifact.

Thanks guys. We'll go with mano. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the polishing is pretty obvious when you see it in person. Julie will be excited! I thought a mano would be more round, but I have a lot to learn, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks for the replies.

I have some round ones and some oblong ones. The flat, polished side is the thing to look for. Not sure about them myself but when I find a rock like that in a known artifact site I tend to think grinding stone.
Thanks for sharing images,
