Grinding stones

Manos or pestles? Photos not great. I'll try to remember to take better shots tomorrow. All from home. Does anyone have an idea about date.

I'd call them loafstones. Excellent finds, and the gray one on the left is awesome.

The best I could suggest on dating is sometime during the Archaic. I know that covers a lot of time and does not narrow it down much but its the best answer I can come up with. Makes you wonder where the Matates are huh? Some were stone but many were probably made of wood as well.

I find Grinding Stones all the time that appear to have only been used a Few times. With the Abundance of round shaped Hard stones are pretty abundant here.So I keep only the ones that are well shaped.I esp. like the ones that were re-sharpened before discard. These are the pieces that have fresh peck marks where they would Hammer new divots into the Grinding area.
As far as age,,, Just look at the associated Artifacts found with-in the complex to try and date these things//

I don't understand why I haven't found round ones. Desertdrifter, I agree that one is my favorite too. The darker one with hand holds is neat too.
Midland, true, takes in a bunch of time but this place seems to cover a long time period. There are piles of rocks here that I haven't begun to uncover.
Comanche, do you find the round ones or the squared up ones?
Took another picture just for fun Thank ya'll
