Wondering about this thing. Is this one of those paint cups? It is around the size of a half dollar.

Could be a small paint pot, nutting stone, or concretion. It does look a little too unnatural though to be a geo...

Think you might be onto something here. It's sure not one of those mud/hematite "bubbles" than can be bought by the dozens at rock shows, shops. Neat thing. Found on a site? Surface or dug? Other rock around?? Woi!

I believe we can put this one to rest. If you have the book "North American Indian Artifacts" by Lar Hothem, 5th edition 1994. Check out page #88. Top right picture.

"Concretion Cup Container", may have been for paint, about 2" diameter, center worn smooth".
