What do you think? Strange stone points

Hi all,

Wolley302 again. First off, let me say my daughter and I are really enjoying our new pastime of relic hunting. Secondly, thank you for all the knowledge you all have shared here.

Now, to the point... We obtained these two points this past weekend (my friend's mother graciously gave them to us to help build our collection, she is an avid longtime hunter). They were found in middle Georgia, and are not of the typical stone I have seen in my short time in this hobby. Anyone have any ideas as to type??

They look like very heavily worn ryholite or shale points, you see them on beaches where they get smoothed out in the surf. I guess a river could do that if the material is soft enough.

They look like Savannah River bases. Depending on where they were originally found in GA., there probably wasn't much flint so they used whatever lithic they cound find.

reminds me of the sand blasted points we find out in the Desert. some have been laying out there along ancient shorelines soo long they have been smoothed down greatly. it makes it hard sometime to realize what you are looking at on the ground, until you pick them up and inspect them closely..
that's sweet that your Daughter is enjoying Point hunting with You.. Quality together no doubt..

I hunt mostly in Central Georgia and there is one spot in particular that seems to always give up points made out of that same material. At that one spot over half of all the points we have found there are that same material. I am fairly new to arrowhead hunting myself so I can not really help you with the material. The two pieces in the top center and the light colored one below it are the same as yours as far as I can tell.
