creek find...artifact??? (picture heavy)

Pardon my newbie ignorance, but is this some type of cutting tool?? I assumed that it is because of the flaking, and it's polished on the tip and also where my fingers make contact. Found it in a creek near the Illinois River.
Thanks for any help.

I agree with Otepgod, it looks like a piece of flint/chert that has been tumbled and polished in the creek. It could have been an actual piece of debitage that an ancient knapper knocked off a larger block of material, or it could have spalled off naturally during a freeze/thaw/freeze cycle.

thanks for the help!!

the fact that it is partially polished (especially on the tip, and also where the fingers make contact) and dull everywhere else has me scratching my head.
