Odd triangle.

Hey guys, reposting this point I found on Monday. It is a small triangle and it looks like it was split on the base, almost forming an elongated heart shape.

Has anyone seen one like this or is it just an eccentric oddity?

Any ideas on material as well? Thanks in advance...

Hard to tell, got any other angles / pics? Possibly some kind of impact fracture.

Best shots I can get. What really stands out to me is the break line on it.

broken point, can't say I see anything too unusual about it though.

Sorry I couldn't communicate what I am seeing guys...

I have found about a dozen small triangles here, 90% of them elongated (not equilateral). All of the bases have been flat and the basal corners come to a point. If you look at the missing part of the base on the above pics, it would not make a flat base, there would be a "^" in the center of the base... not to mention the basal corners are rounded which is also not present in the "normal" specimens here... as well as the chert type.

At any rate, this thread can die. If I ever find a whole that shares the same traits, then I will post it... HH.

Here is one that I found a couple years back in NC Arkansas around the Harrison area. It very much resembles the one you have there and seems to have the ear on the split tail broken in identically the same spot...

Not sure what it would be called but yours sure reminded me of this one...

The quickest, easiest way to get a broken point out if its haft so you can re-use the haft is to whack it with something.

I see this so much with Early Archaic cornernotches that I am very suspicious of what purport to be examples of them with both shoulders & feet intact.
