Weird Eccentric Or Tool?

This unifacial multi-tanged arrow point size eccentric was found at Roland's on the Nueces River in Uvalde Co. Tx. Note the small well made hook on the lateral side below the tip.

Any thoughts on function or form? Anyone see one of these befor?

That hook looks very delicate, I'd have to imagine that cutting anything more than a hair in there would break it.

Is there a crystal pocket or some other inclusion there?

It looks like that from the picture but my opinion is that it is a change in material that is simply very translucent. Note the variability of the material overall. That hook is the oddest part of the piece and what causes me the most speculation.

I am with Joshua, probably a defect in the material at that point, or a knapping error, and the knapper just made the best of it, in my opinion.

In my opinion, Corner Tang Montell no.

Eccentric Montell yes!

If it’s a corner tang shouldn’t the (corner)TANG be at least somewhat functional?
