Need help...pipe head?!?

Hey Guys,

So I need some help here. I'm a newbie, and this is my first post. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be a whole lot of help. I inherited this "pipe head" along with more than 50 points when my Grandfather died a couple of weeks ago. No one in his family knew he had them so I don't know where he found any of his artifacts. He grew up in SC and GA and lived his whole life in the South. I would assume this "pipe" came from either TN, FL, SC, GA or AL.

I appreciate all the help I can get on this. Finding his artifacts has really peeked my interest, and I am really looking forward to learning more about his things.

Thanks,

Ashley

It's definitely a Pipe and from the pics it looks like it's made from stone. Can you show us some of the Points and other artifacts that your grandfather had? That would give us a little bit more info if we can see what kind of pieces he was finding and may give us a possible age on the Pipe.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandfather.

Hey Ashley--

I couldn't think of it being anything else, unless some aboriginal plumber was way ahead of his time.

Smoke 'em if ya got em!

It's a nice pipe, and, having found a lot of steatite over the years, I would say the stone is steatite, aka soapstone.

Very sorry for your loss Ashley...

As Steve said, posting pictures of his arrowheads as well will give everyone an idea of where your Grandfather might have hunted and give more leads to the pipe artifact.
