Thanks for that great link !

I guess that maybe I can assume that this piece is a broken dovetail? And if so, are all dovetails from the Archaic period? It would be thrilling to think it was that old. I found it close to the border with Canada and the U.S. And yes...I really suck at the picture taking. Wish I knew a better way.

I'd certainly hold onto it. The thing I like about your rock is that it has one hold and contains circular patterns inside it. As if it were used that way. The two rocks with multiple holes don't seem to be that way.

It can always be and "I think" in your collection.

Thanxs for all the feed back!And as addictive as this site is< alas I have 1600 sq.feet of American Cherry to finish and stain tommorrow.i.e. working now so I can do what i want later.

Supaadave, If finding an archaic point gets you excited, just wait until you find your first paleo point, you will be super excited. When taking indoor pictures I found out that its best to turn the camera flash off and just take your pictures under a good light.

Looks lika a geofact to me, as the inclusions fall out later, especially in a water environment and leave a polished or worked hole appearence.

You are very wise River Man. I agree with your assessment here. Fluvial transport will give a polished appearance that resembles polishing from extensive use/wear.
