Looks hematite to us locals! Weighs in at 2 oz or 60 grams. Do you know what culture made it? Thanks.

Did not know that. This gorget shows some partial (left over) engraving on the broke end which would indicate that it was decorated before damage. Could this have been (ceremonialy) broken on purpose? Also, the partial engraving appears to be a different pattern than the rest, wish we had the other half to see how it was decorated.

Kenny, this might sound crazy but if it was mine I would put an ad in the Texarkana Gazette and the The Thrifty Nickle with a pic of the piece and see if any of the local collectors might know where the other half is.As unique as it is, if somebody ever saw the other piece they would most likely remember it.
