Hello....I'm a new member from West Central Illinois

Hey guys.....Im new here, my first post.....I was introduced to relic hunting in 1990 by a friend of mine who farmed 2000 acres in Adams Co. Il.....He had a nice collection on diplay in a room so I asked him about them and he said lets go for a ride. We stopped at a big hill and wlaked into the field and it's been on ever since then.......He knew nothing about what he was finding, hewas just a farmer with no knowledge of the pieces or their origins or typology for that matter, nor did I. I read countless books from CSAS and many other publications. I no longer hunt with him as he moved to Az and sold his farm, it is in no-till now.

I have found some AWESOME pieces in Pike and Adams Co. Il.....5 axes, 3 celts, 2 plummets....many many points ranging from Archaic to Miss....sad thing is I sold all of my finds years ago to a close friend as his son is young and he wants to share them with him. I didnt need to sell for financial gains, just basically as a favor to him and his family. I just enjoy getting out and walking with my buddy and enjoying this beautiful country I live in. I will try to take some pics of his frames of the stuff we have found. We went to a woodland site in Pike Co. IL on a big sand ridge last week and we found 7 "common" points as we call them, nice local chert specimens, but not extremely desirable, more functional. It's a Snyder's culture site....the best piece was a gorgeous Table Rock which I think is older(Late Archaic/Early Woodland) than the Snyder's stuff we usually find there......well...cya guys soon and GL hunting....I will try to post some pics and I look forward to meeting new friends here!

peace and cheers!

Welcome from SW Arkansas. You're in an awesome area for artifacts. No till farming has taken away all the fields I hunted as a youngster. That's why I stick to the creeks and other bodies of water now.

yes sir......we hunt creeks as well....all very small sandy creeks with only smaller sized pebbles on the upper terraces. We try to stray away from the shale loaded creeks near the bluffs. It's very good hunting here as we are between two major river systems.....the Mississippi and the Illinois

Welcome, but I will not be speaking to you anymore until you get those pics. It's just too painful. Like promising a gift to a little kid with a time frame of "when I get a chance". I'm just not mature enough to be patient.
