Hi all, I'm new to this forum but not to artifacts. I have in the past year become aware of a Paleo/ early archaic culture that existed right in my back yard, literally as well as figuratively.

I live in West Central Jersey, in the Rancocas drainage basin. My home sits on the paleo river bank of the Rancocas Creek. I started finding small artifacts that had the look of being acted on by man. I now have amassed a large collection of stone tools and other artifacts. Enough to tell me that the entire town I live in was built on top of a series of habitation sites, running the gamut from paleo to early woodland.
The early habitation has been almost completely missed by the state archeaologists.
What has been missed by almost everyone is the existence of a paleo belief system built on a nature based system. Fossils being the hinge.

I'm in the process of photographing now. As soon as I can I'll get some pics up.

About me, I have a BFA from the Phila College of Art, studio major Ceramics, academic major Ancient cultures.
Avocational Archeaologist for 40 years.
Occupation- Teacher of Horticulture, Special Ed. Between Assignments

Red Clay,

Welcome, and thanks for the introduction. There are others hear from your neck of the woods.

Sounds as if you have quite a bit of history literally in your backyard.

Looking foward to learning more about it.

Shannon
