Hey Y'all
Well shoot; I guess I missed a step here. Been on here a few weeks, and y'all have been real helpful. But I didn't see this Introduction forum till today, so here't goes.
My name is Joe Wood, and I've only recently got bites from the arrowhead bug, thanks to my 11 year old son Vincent. I had some from Grandpa out there in Lincoln County, MO as a kid, and I saw a whole wall of nice extreme lower MO river points at a mansion I used to work at growin up the street here, a few miles away from both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. But now I have a small, humble collection of mostly dinged up burlington chert. My son and I spend our weekends walking the rock creeks and finding hardly nothing, but we are learning. I guess the good thing is one--he's into something positive and educational, and two--we get to spend alot of man time together... Even if we ain't found jack. I guess my aim is to learn as much about these arrowheads before I get took again by a deal that seems to good to be true, or at least learn enough to where I can answer all of my kid's g'ddamned questions. Or maybe just so I can act like I know a whole lot about something I am really quite interested in. So nice to make y'alls aquaintence, even though I already started crossin the stream. PS--My favorite point has got to be any of the Cahokias.... Those lil triangles and artsy notches got me out there hunting like crazy, though I a'int got the first idea where to find em.. Collection looks good to me, Joe!
As far as your wanting to find those Cahokia points,, They are much more common in the American Bottoms, right across the river in Illinois! The trick is getting permission to hunt and the time to find the sites. Need to get together sometime and do some exploring. Good to have another local aboard,, Jason |
