Thank you Scotto and Neralich..
Comanche, keeled scraper, glad to know. They are amazing tools. I even have some small ones. Would you say early archaic? Thank you for answering my question yesterday. I have a hard time figuring blades/scrapers/knives. I told Dr. Hester one day that I wished my injuns had owned his book. I think his reply was he wished the same thing. Nice man. What is your oldest point? I ask cause you refer to wanting to find paleo... |

More fun tools
Thanks Steve. They are very abundant right here. I'm adding a bunch more.
Some like the tiny snail rubbing stones[I think] [little help here] are just too neat not to post. All kinds of fossils in them. Like the first snail one is almost covered in glitter/crystal. Over and over the person will try to use a group of fossil crystals or certain fossils in his/her scrapers and other tools. Enjoy - I hope |

So Sorry for Missing your Question Lilly.,,I Just now lined back.
Yes. I agree Mr. Hester is a true Gentleman. As far as your question about how old your scrapers are. Well here is the thing I have learned about the Central Texas Blade/core reduction sequence.Context is every thing because we find many similar traits with Paleodonic Blade reductions in or finds. My oldest finds are Angostura and Gower.I do Hunt a site that has produced some Folsom and some Transitional Point types,,,I just have not been lucky enough to find a Paleo piece ,,,Yet! Happy Hunting//////c Thanks for showing interest

Thanks Comanche - I pulled some burins but some one! insisted on meal preparation etc. Spouses do not understand how important sharp burins are.
[unless they find them in unusual places ]You suggested a new thread on burins. Okay but I do not pretend to know much about the subject. The ones that are snapped end up being questionable to me. Since this was a quarry for 1000s of years, there is so much chipped flint. The oldest point thus far - bottom half folsom. Surface points were picked long years ago. So finding whole points is unusual. But what I have found has been quite varied. I continue to believe this spot is very old. No middens. Kinda surprising for our area. Will try to get some pics posted. So glad someone else is interested. |

Sandhills, thank you - I was wondering if anyone would notice that ruler. How is the hunting in your area? The weather is finally cool enough to enjoy looking. Wretched hot all summer and so so dry. Only one thing good, everyone in the state has had grand success finding points and tools. No grass really helps
