Hey from Canada...
Hi there, I'm located in Alberta, Canada....don't know if there are any other Canucks on the board, haven't seen any...
Not so much a hunter as a bit of a collector; have an old Arkansas collection that I have sold a bit of, and kept a bit of... But my first love really is beads, and I'm pleased to see some info and interest here on those (anyone want to trade?)...lots of good stuff in the archives... I make it to the US on rare occasions, probably next time will be SC in the spring for dog training...it would be cool if anyone could point me to a good place for a newbie to hunt for a day or so near Cheraw? I'll be posting for some ID help when I get a chance. Thanks guys! Mike (dogteam) Hooker |

Bought a large collection of mostly field grade points collected in NW Arkansas back in the 20's and 30's. I'll be asking you guys what i have left, other than lots of adenas and garys I'd be embarrassed to hazard a guess as to what else there is.
I wish I had stuff that's local to me, but it's hard to come by...collecting arrowheads is a tough prospect in Canada, not like in say texas or the midwest. |

I get the impression that stuff from the Columbia is similar to stuff from BC...my favorite is the clear blue "Russian" faceted beads that I've collected from Vancouver Island. I'll definitely be posting some photos...I really enjoy hearing from people who have found beads "in-situ". African beads have flooded the market for decades now, blurring the lines between what was actually used in North America and what wasn't. Every bead found in a dig expands my knowledge, so let's hear from you guys about what you've found. Not just trade beads of course...I've aquired some shell beads from Spiro that have piqued my interest... ![]() I'd love to hunt the Columbia some day. I've never "found" a bead myself. |

Thanks, guys!
Picking are sparse where I am. In the southern part of the province there are Tipi rings from summer camps, and buffalo jumps....but I get the impression that you would have to be pretty lucky to find something these days. There are paleo sites, so maybe I just don't know where to look, or how? Not many collectors here, that's for certain. I'd like to go to a pay dig in Texas one of these days, maybe.... |
