The First Wooo Whoooo!

I started hunting artifacts around 6 tears old in Irion county Texas. There were 7 middens on a hill about 3 miles from a major water source. I remember going with My Father and Brother and while they were finding projectile points, all I could seem to find were tools(which I still have boxed up)and every time we went I was determined to find a projectile point. about 6 years later we were in sommerville LA. visiting my Uncle and were out by an old dillapidated farmhouse.Everyone had their metal detectors out and I was doing my normal kicking around and looked down at what I thought was a leaf. Well it wasn't a leaf it was my first complete projectile point, an evans which back then My Uncle was calling a double notched arrowhead. Aint it funny how when you least expect it the spirits just decide to hand you a treasure. Needless to say I had My normal teenage years and didn't get back into hunting artifacts seriously until 1980 when I started working in the oilfield at age 21. I have not looked back since. I surface hunted up until 2001 when a friend said I should go with him on some hand digs. I feel it only appropriate to use My first complete point as My avatar. The point is 1 and 5/8ths inches long and 1 inch wide.

Thanks Indianasmith, My brother has told me that all my life. I seem to find artifacts when I least expect them. I believe My Father was the reason I developed an eye for such things at an early age. I try my best to pass this passion on to as many people I can find, young and old whom enjoy getting out of the house and in the country.

Thanks Scotto! I have found better artifacts, but this one is the most memorable. Back when I found this I remember there were bounties on armadillo ears, for example.lol
