Smile Hello from Portland, OR!

Hey folks--

I don't know how I stumbled across this site, but I just became a member and already love the quick responses and helpfulness I'm getting!

I'm a fifty-year-old kid who grew up in Florida, literally on the other side of the park fence from one of the most important mounds in Tampa Bay. Before the county built a seawall around it to stop erosion and sodded the whole place in, I don't think I can recall a time I ever went looking for goodies and came back skunked. I've got a cross-section photo of some of my faves if anyone's interested.

Anyway, I never lost the bug, but having moved to Oregon now I don't really know where to go, and would love to hear (especially) from some fellow Oregonians!

I'm looking forward to "meeting" you guys!

Thumbs up

WELCOME!!!

From Just Down the River in sunny Astoria. Lots of Great hunting within a short drive...And enough Great Basin to explore for the rest of your life if you start looking over East. There is a good amount of Locals here from the Valley and Wash. Area..We welcome a Brother with similar interests with open arms and most are very willing to share knowledge and hunts.

Great to have you on Board!

Hey Trask!

Thanks for the welcome, and you can't just leave me hanging with "lots of great hunting within a short drive". I'd love to know details about where, and access and such, whether it be in your direction or the desert way.

I got one tip last summer from someone who pointed me toward his killer spot near Frenchglen/Steen Mtn., and I went... but the entire place was thigh-high in cheatgrass. Couldn't even see my feet.

Anyway, I'm loving this little Arrowheadology community so far!

You where Knee deep in the right area..Nothing easy about that country...My best Public tip for that Area..Find Water you find Points ( water can mean water that was ONCE there)...But water cuts though soil and walking creeks out there can be very productive..Think Donner Und Blitzen river at French Glen..Good fishing and point hunting...Silvies River is the Same story

Pm'd You

Yep, I walked "along" the Dunder Und Blitzen River but it, too, was p-a-c-k-e-d with brush... could hardly see it, let alone move toward it. I'm talking some kind of bamboo-like grass probably ten or twelve feet tall in some places, with a kinda sorta tunnel through it, but a machete would have been nice. I was accidentally walking it looking for the other place I PMd you about with the coordinates (boy, was I off, but I misunderstood my friend's directions). Man, I'm writing all these places down that you're telling me about!!!

Rather see anyone find an arrowhead in that country and give it the love it deserves before the cow hooves eventually get 'em
