Hi, I am Jerry from Texas, and have been collecting arrowheads since I was about ten years old when I found my first stemmed whole point at a church camp. I have always been fascinated by ancient American Indians, and ancient man. I wanted to learn how the Indians made arrowheads when I was a little kid. I was in scouts and got an "arrowhead making kit" put out by the scouts when I was about 11, which consisted of a notched cow bone and some flint chips. Needless to say it didn't work. I took up "modern" flint knapping about 5 years ago and am not all that good, but am pretty much self taught. I enjoy reading about ancient man in North America and historic and prehistoric Indians. I surface collect only, and do not dig, too old for one thing. LOL! I am also interested in Kennewick man, and other early north American skeletal remains, and in preserving them for future scientific study rather than reburial.
My favorite arrowhead type to flint knap is the Ensor, with the Perd coming in second. |
