newbee to the forum
Hey there, I've been rock hunting most of my life. I started with my Uncle back in the sixties. He took me out fishing in eastern Wyoming. I had the right fly on and caught my limit within the first hour. I couldn't fish anymore so we started arrowhead hunting. Besides coming up with all the fish I found a perfect McKean witch started my collection. My Uncle then took me on a ten day adventure into the red desert in Wyoming, where I added to a growing collection. I spent many hours out with him and grew to love looking for all kinds of rocks. I collected all the chips I could find and started tumbling these beautiful remnants to make them really shine.
My big find was many years later I was working for a city along the front range of Colorado and there was some flooding into that cities water reservoir and they wanted me to help burn the debris that had been trapped. One day I was piling wood while another man was pushing it with a bulldozer. We broke for lunch, I had only a sandwich and a drink witch I finished quickly. I got up and started walking around kicking sand and boom! I found an arrowhead, a broken Mallory, then another and so on. Nobody did anymore work that day. To make a long story shorter the site dates back to about 8,000 BC. It was a campsite along the natural course of a river that they decided to dam. The site today is under water but over the years I've been able to collect some interesting pieces. |
