Hi Everyone
Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Jim Robertson and I live in Franklin, NC. I've been hunting for artifacts for more than 30 years and I really hate to admit this, but along the way I've neglected to learn much of anything about the points and blades and tools and such that I've found. I guess that I've been happy just being able to indulge my passion for being outdoors and walking plowed fields and finding and fondling artifacts here in the mountains of western North Carolina. In my case ignorance has been bliss long enough and now I am curious about what I have found over the years...lol. So, you can see that I'm really looking forward to hearing your comments and opinions about some of my artifacts. The majority of artifacts found around here are of quartz, mostly white quartz, and appear real crude when compared to artifacts from just about anywhere else. I've always thought that the quartz must be real difficult to work maybe because of the hardness and the ease with which a lot of it fractures but this is only a guess. Any comments?
This is my second post. My first post is an appeal for help posting images in the "Help/How-to/Suggestions" forum. I can't wait to post some pictures. Thanks, Jim |

Welcome. I'm new to the whole realm but after buying the book below and being on this message board for a few weeks I get into conversations with collectors like youself who have loads of experience collecting but little experience in typology/artifact history and they are amazed at the knowledge I've picked up in such a short time. I can't wait to see some of your pictures. This place is great. I don't know what I'd do without it.
